The Long Haired German Shepherd has a long double coat which requires regular brushing to avoid knots and tangles and to prevent the undercoat from matting. Regular brushing will help to remove any dead undercoat and maintain condition . Only light trimming is required The overall appearance should be natural and flowing.
Depending on the home grooming routine the recommended time between visits to the salon is 8 weeks
The Short Haired German Shepherd has a shorter double coat which also requires regular brushing to remove the dead undercoat hair and ensure the coat remains in good condition. Again little trimming is required other than the feet, pads and hygiene area.
Recommended time between visits to the salon is 8 - 12 weeks
