The Bearded Collie has a double coat which requires regular grooming and removal of the dead undercoat. The top coat is long and flowing and only the hygiene areas and under the pads should be clipped for the show ring. Pet owners of the breed may wish for the feet to be trimmed and a fringe to be cut to create a ‘Teddy’ bear appearance. The coat on the body may be scissor/clipped shorter if preferred (teddy/pet trim). The recommended frequency of visits to the grooming salon depends on the choice and style of the length of the coat.
Recommended time between visits: 8 - 12 weeks
This double coated breed requires regular brushing to maintain condition and remove dead undercoat but little trimming. The coat should appear natural and flowing.
